Fourth Year Elective Offerings Thank you for your interest in the visiting student program at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. This year we will be accepting applications for visiting electives through the VSAS (Visiting Student Application Service) system. Students who take electives must be enrolled in their senior year of medical school at a U. S. LCME medical school. They must be in good academic standing after completing their core rotations. VSAS Link: http://services.aamc.org/20/vsas/ Our requirements include: Transcripts Verification of HIPAA and OSHA training, BLS certification, and malpractice coverage at $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate should be provided by your medical school. Only students who attend Osteopathic Medical schools may use the application below to request an elective. Verification of good academic standing and as well as the required documentation listed above will be required. International students may inquire about electives through our Office of International Medicine Programs. We have exchange contracts and/or affiliation agreements with a limited number of international Medical Schools. We are able to accept students from those schools only. Inquiries for additional information regarding international clinical electives may be sent to Amanda Tuffli at impawt@gwumc.edu. For all students: We will begin accepting applications for electives on April 1, 2009. Confirmation of acceptance for an elective rotation will be sent after the first week of June when the GWU School of Medicine senior students have completed their schedules for the 2009-2010 academic year. Additional information: Students accepted for electives are allowed a maximum of 2 four week rotations. The required application fee is $75.00. We do not provide housing. Please bring your white coat with you as well as your school ID; we will provide ID access for the Medical Center, GW Hospital and the Himmelfarb (Medical) Library. Parking is provided on campus at a discounted rate. The metro (subway) system has a stop on the GWU campus at Foggy Bottom. Access to The Health and Wellness Center is available for a monthly fee.
