Senior Associate Dean

As Senior Associate Dean for the Health Sciences Programs I have a deep commitment to providing leadership to the Health Sciences Programs. The set of programs that I work with are diverse and include both on-campus and online programs.

I am a Professor of Pathology, Associate Dean for Health Sciences, and Director of the Clinical Laboratory Science Program. I am also the Principal Investigator of the NCI-funded East Coast AIDS and Cancer Specimen Bank and a Co-Investigator in the NIH-funded Women's Interagency HIV Study. My doctorate is in Microbiology. I have recently been developing a program for capacity building in clinical research.

I provide assistance to the Senior Associate Dean, including maintaining her calendar, which I found to both a challenge and pleasure, it's always interesting. I firmly believe that the way to reform healthcare is to recognize that spirituality is an essential element of healthcare and that compassionate and high quality healthcare is based on the spiritual values of service and love. For over fifteen years at GW, I have been developing creative, scholarly, and practical models of interdisciplinary spiritual care and teaching future clinicians and leaders in healthcare to integrate spirituality fully into their clinical practices. My passion is my clinical work and my teaching. My patients are my teachers and my students are the agents of change for creating better and more compassionate systems of care.
